Sitting on my couch with closed eyes and rewinding my memory’s cassette to the last ten weeks and reflecting on what I have learned in that much period of time while being an Amal career prep fellow was amazingly self-satisfying.

I joined Amal Academy in order to avoid the wastage of time during the online studies in the current situation of COVID. I did not know that this venture would prove so fruitful and helpful for me in many aspects of my professional development. Taking online sessions with almost 40 members including our honorable and most generous Project Manager, Ma’am Rabia, and Project Advisor, Ma’am Hajira in such a learning-friendly environment and doing such amazing activities is beyond description.

Amal Online Weekend Session

Choosing one such event which left a great impact on me would be an injustice to all other events in which I gained a lot because every online course, project work and online session left a different, unmatched and everlasting impact on my personality. Each online course and PW polished different aspects of my personality. Just for the sake of argument, I’ll describe one such event which had a huge impact on my practical life. Besides my learnings from the PASSENGER series and resume and cover letter writing, finding ways to go against my procrastinations put a great impact on me.

Some of the Amal Courses, I completed

Ever since the start of online classes, I became sluggish and a bit sloppy. I wasted a lot of my time during the very first lockdown in 2020. I was getting sick of myself as I was wasting my time. I used to procrastinate on my assignments and works. So, I joined Amal Academy to invest my time in some fruitful purpose. In one of the online courses of Amal Academy, I found a way to deal with my procrastinations and lethargic behavior. But how?

Let me tell you the secret behind that, I started making to-do lists for my daily jobs and assigning myself a specific job for a day. After applying this technique, my life got scheduled and organized and this helped a lot in my daily life and I managed to do my work on time. And to avoid distractions while doing any job, I applied the Pomodoro technique and killed the procrastination monster.

After doing things in this way, I felt a positive energy in me and there was a strong feeling of self-satisfaction, whenever I completed my work on time. This positive change brought a lot of enthusiasm in me to do the things of my interests and I found myself disciplined. And really, ‘Discipline gets half the job done!’

My family members also noticed this positive change in me and my younger brother started to follow the technique of making to-do lists for his daily works. I still follow the same technique to organize myself and make myself disciplined.
Whenever I look back and think that I used to waste such useful time, I feel pity. But whenever I have this thought in mind, I get more motivated and passionate about my goals.
